I'm almost done building my first transceiver, and I'll try my first CW contact! I was recommended a FISTS membership, and based on what I've learned so far, can't wait to get on the air (seriously, it's the post office's fault!).

Glad to see all these new CW operators.

Boy, this post is really going to piss a lot of people off though. :)

Welcome to all those new CW ops no matter what organisation they choose. Plenty of morse out there, this morning worked Azores, Germany and Palau.

And still more but soon to leave for a SOTA exercise and still packing up some gear.

    Have fun.

CW's been alive and well since there was CW. If you consider "spark" to be CW (I guess it was...sorta), it's been alive and well over 100 years now.

DXing is easier on CW, but I don't care anymore, having worked almost everything there is in 54 years; so I enjoy ragchewing and fooling around.

Just worked Steve VE7SL on 40CW, who is using a homebrew 1-tube transmitter. QRP but sounded great. 1-tube transmitter. Reminds me of my first homebrew transmitter as a Novice 54 years ago, a 6V6 power oscillator that ran about 15W DC input power and unknown output power since I had no way to measure that. I didn't know it was complete crap as I was filling logbooks with contacts as a Novice.:)

Well, I did have five crystals, so I was doing better than some.:p
