The National Weather Service (NWS) and the ARRL will be holding the NWS Special Event 2000.

The special event will be held on December 2, 2000; from 0000 UTC to 2400 UTC. This special event is being held to recognize the contributions that the amateur radio community makes to the National Weather Service. Amateurs will be operating from NWS facilities throughout the country. The QSO exchange will consist of a call sign, QTH, weather, and signal report. Longer QSOs are encouraged. This event is being promoted as a Special Event and not a contest.

Event certificates and QSL cards will be available, as well as a number of special endorsements. Operations will be in the General and/or Technician part of the bands. VHF operation is encouraged and repeater operations are allowed. Please view the NWS Special Event 2000 web site for complete information.
