I was being (slightly) facetious. Certainly, repeaters DO have their place, and it is certainly good to welcome new hams, who will (in the majority, at least) get on VHF/UHF FM as their first experiences. A good experience there goes a long way to making them feel welcome into the ham community.
BTW, good luck (and good operating) on your SOTA endeavors!

Those miserable round adjustable feet on Yaesus
Amp relay buried in an acc jack (DIN)

Tiny rf pwr nob on Icom
Tiny keyer speed nob on Icom
    A/B split setup on Icom

    Digital S meters on anything
Touch screens (I hate the one on this laptop)

Give me time I will come up with more.

Last Kenwood I had was a 520S. Only thing wrong was no WARC bands and could not afford an 830.

I like the old gear, turn a knob, flip a switch - digital is ok and sometimes too small, but not the answer to everything.
If they could make digital toilet paper we'd all have an 'app'

All that old gear feels solid as a rock regardless its actual reliability.

Obviously most electronics become smaller so more controls on smaller panels mean the controls become smaller even more. We mostly can live with unless each control has its clearly dedicated action. No short press/log press/press twice per one single button, please.

Especially sensor 'buttons' that give no any tactile feedback.

    Yep! :D

Would that "wipe"out things like interference any better than analog TP?

I hope that one day someone manufactures a new rig that will precisely emulate an old rig. Same controls, same options, etc.

Or, I suppose Plan B could simply be to start manufacturing the old rigs again.

Bring back the TS-830S, with a computer interface of course.

Wait! The TS-890S sort of fits that bill...

No, that will come out in the next firmware update

A good radio without that big ugly screen. Modern electronics, a 90's appearance. TS-940/950 size, no menus, no multi touch knobs, man size knobs.
