Bill, N4QA writes "By now, most of us have heard about the digital modes such as PSK31, MFSK-16 and all the rest. Many of these modes facilitate keyboard-to-keyboard 'live' communications among enthusiasts who hang out in certain segments of our ham bands.

Known affectionately as Warbleheads or Warbliers, these hams will typically have a personal computer which is loaded with their favorite software, and which features a soundcard and serial port which interface with a 'sideband' rig.

Some of us...QRP types...like to play with smaller, simpler radios for most of our hamming activities and we were in need of an appropriate rig with which to enter the PSK arena.

    Enter the 'Warbler'.
The New Jersey QRP club has been kitting this recent NN1G design for several months. The kit goes together very easily, with aid from a really well-written assembly/technical manual. There is also a wealth of available support from NJQRP, QRP-L and from the designer, himself.

Running two watts peak envelope power (PEP) output, the Warbler, aka PSK-80, has enabled me to contact many hams in seventeen of these United States, with best DX, so far, being the State of Texas (I am located in Southwest Virginia)...not bad for QRP on the Eighty-meter band. And, no doubt, others have done even better.

So, check out the Warbler at http://www.njqrp.org

    Standard disclaimer...

    See you out there.
