Do you have HP or Tektronix Test Equipment with a Dead CRT or EL display?
You Do NOT have to use the Chop Shops for replacement.

NewScope-0Jr LCD Display on the 8920A RF Communication Test Set (below)
SIMMCONN Labs, LLC of San Jose, CA now offers NewScope LCD Retrofit Kits.

Many test equipment from the late 1970s to the early 2000s from HP (later became Agilent and now Keysight) and Tektronix are still in service today thanks to their excellent build quality and availability of service information.

However, the CRT display tubes used in some equipment are aging and the replacement parts are scarce.
It is sad to see an otherwise perfectly working spectrum analyzer, network analyzer or digital oscilloscope being scrapped due to a dim or failed display.

The NewScope series LCD retrofit kit are designed to replace the CRT display units in those equipment.
The LCD retrofit kit not only recovers the display function, but also gives a new look to the unit, improves the user experience and extends the service life.

Those have been out for several years and have gotten good reviews. I thought about buying one, just in case, but I have a spare complete display unit. Also using a video converter and use a 14" video monitor for the display. Much easier on old eyeballs.

    Cliff -
I was aware of the Tektronix TDS scope (mono CRT) replacements from 2014,
but he recently discontinued that original Mono LCD offering (but supports Color models).
Replacing the CRT drops the overall test instrument’s weight. (+)

What has recently been added are replacements for the EI displays used on HP/Agilent equipment.
I did note that used prices, for video assemblies, dropped to below his replacement price.

I agree that a larger monitor is useful (hoping my eyesight holds, for a few more years), and those replacements often support an external monitor.

Actually not. The auction place price is $349 and the OEM price is $319. All I ever saw was the auction price. Wonder how many paid the auction place premium price???
