That is most always the case, these are professional scammers, they are not ham radio operators. Posts in this forum trashing the person with the call sign and saying they are a scanner, I have not seen that to be correct yet.

Posting a wanted add hear on QRZ is just an invitation to be ripped off, saying I have money for you to take. That is from one of Freds posts here on QRZ. I may have not used his exact words, but the message is the same. Don't post wanted adds.

    Good Luck,
    73, Lisa

That’s why it’s suggested to publish an email address so a buyer can warn you that your name/call is being used by scammers. Scammers look for accounts with no email address and make one up to scam. A disclaimer is also recommended.

I just looked and it appears my email is under my account and has been since I signed up. Is there somewhere else I should put it?

Hello! You have to go to the place to edit your qrz page. Way down the page is a space for “public email address.” Putting your email address there should do it.

    Barry Barnette is back;)
I posted a wanted ad for TT omni vii to qrz.com and in an hour someone named Barry Barnette sent me an email offering fully loaded mint rig from his step dad;))) he even attached pictures. Email is exactly the same.

I've sent the real Barry an email informing him of the continuing scam activity and asking him to add his email and a disclaimer to his QRZ page. He was asked to do so last year, but didn't. Let's see what happens. By the way, you can report that scammer's email to abuse at gmail dot com and they will deactivate it.

Yeah, the email was as in the topic title. Already reported to gmail. The fake Barry failed to provide his callsign as well.
