A fully responsive layout would take a lot more changes to the site than just those you have mentioned. In this case the 'responsiveness' of this part of the page is handle by and adjustable number of columns, this makes the most efficient use of space on both large and small displays.
Just a jumble of boxes and blank spaces ... did anybody actually look at this before releasing ??? ... Change for the sake of change is not a step forward ..
The new home page is terrible for me. I am using Windows XP and it is not usable at all. Didnt you think a lot of hams are still using slower computers and that they would have trouble? Geez this is not very good. I can no longer use QRZ.com on my XP computer. You need to fix this please.
Hate the new design. Miss the solar data and propagation forecast by band. I see the solar data further down the page... But having to hunt for it through all the clutter is not helpful. I thought the site had been hacked by adware. I used to start all my radio activity by checking in here first for band conditions. I guess those days are over.
At the bottom of the solar data tile there is a right and left arrow. Subtle, though present. If you click one of those arrows you will see additional info including MUF.
Initial reaction is, at least to me, "too busy". Liked the old version much better. Why is it a bad thing to say it looked like the 90's, I saw nothing wrong with it. I do not disagree with change, just not change to say you changed something.
Ok, I disagree on the "a lot more changes" (to be responsive) part, but in the end it is so critical because what you end up with a a bunch of boxes and a layout that users will hate..... it just looks busy... You actually create bigger problems with the CSS/javascript method you've adopted... Let's see what the feedback is like.
Lots of eye candy, but somewhere people have forgotten that not everybody in the world (or even here in the USA) is on high-speed broadband. All these graphics take forever to load. Yes, it looks nice - but was the change really necessary? There was nothing wrong with the "old" QRZ.com! People were used to it and it was easy to navigate. Just because the former look was ten years old is no reason to toss it. Heck, I drive a 20-year-old car! Nothing wrong with it. Why change for the sake of change?
Its Simple and easy to navigate, pictures say a thousand words; no matter what language! 73 VE1AKE Gord.
Yea I agree with the comments on solar data, I also liked that you could see what was going on with just a glance, maybe have it where top contacts is positioned on web page and in same form that it was before change ? just my two cents. But the team at QRZ always Kicks Much Butt and that my Ham Friends will never change!!!
I don't like it. I can't see everything on the screen and it's too busy put it back so we can get all your info with out having to move the screen around.......
