You don't need a waterfall for FM... If this included SSB, then yes, I think a waterfall is justified.

 

2M / 440 is simply not worth that kind of investment.

Really? My multiple submissions in the FM-only category must have been false.

I know that's an anomaly, but I do enjoy participating in the FM category and there's certainly a decent amount of activity there even among those who do SSB and CW. If I had a cool grand sitting around for a new radio, this could be an interesting tool for FM-only contesting. I'll continue to get by with HTs and old-school mobiles for my work though.

You HAD to understand that my point is, that there is not much demand for a radio for contesting for FM. Certainly not enough to make FM contesting a key feature. Snark from your shitposting aside, I do think it would be good if more people would contest especially on VHF/UHF period.

 

I've been trying to figure out a neat, professional looking way to install a VHF/UHF radio in my 2023 F150. It'll be easier to mount that control head on a sandbag type stand to sit on my dash board, right next to my GPS on a sandbag mount sitting on my dashboard and hide the main unit underneath the back seat.

In my opinion this discussion went bad. Why people always want to have HF stuff at VHF/UHF or unbelievable SHF? A horse dont grunt like a pig. And when the horse will learn this a bit, it will stay a horse.

All bands are different and for other things to use. So HF stuff at higher bands are a incorrect use.

 

Still no sideband... Yawn.

 

How are we feeling about it now that Kenwoods price is $1200 for the TM-D750a? The only thing that looks to be major is the addition of 220mhz + crossband repeat. That's only if Icom doesn't deliver on APRS via firmware update.
