Never seen a new Japanese radio sold for more in the US than it is domestic.

The Japanese Bloggers are talking and showing pictures of the AH-705 auto-tuner run on batteries or 13.8 1.9 to 50MHz sort of like the Z817

I can't wait for all of you guys to buy one and describe it as one of the best radios you have ever owned and within a few months, sell it on here used. ;)

Just what we need - another basic entry level radio. Now, queue multiple pages of whether it’s display is prettier than some other small radio.

Give the people what they want at an affordable price. If people want a higher end rig there are plenty of options. Seems like Icom has figured this out.

Meh, catering to the POTA/SOTA crowd. Which from a business standpoint I can't blame them portable ops seems be the rave right now, so I am sure they will sell like hotcakes. And of course leave it to Icom to make you have to buy "their" separate ATU that I am sure will come out soon, along with a host of other accessories that should come with the radio, i.e. brackets, cables, etc..

They'll make a killing, just like when they put the 7300 out.
