About the only thing you can work on ten GHZ are the automatic door openers at Home Depot.:(

It's not just their new offerings...Icom rigs have had that problem since the IC-751; the 765 was a particularly horrible offender as well, and those rigs were discontinued around 25-30 years ago.

Wow, you really need to get out more often. There is a lot of long haul 10 GHz activity taking place on tropo, rain scatter, and EME.

The field of microwave communications was in the past more a section for handy men with very good knowings in much specialist sections. Thats why 2 to 10 GHz isnt so present.

    Morning,
Do you have the new beam up and on the air ?
I recently purchased a 9700 and am looking for a
one size fits all solution, for Horizontal.

No, not yet. It is assembled but only have one side painted so far---but a great deal of other non-ham work came up in the meantime (painting our stucco house as well as staging our other home before going on the market).

Once I get the Create antenna completely painted and installed I'll post something here or in the Antennas forum.

Since you are looking for a "one size fits all" solution I seriously doubt there is anything else out there that qualifies---except, of course, it's "little brother" the 2m through 23cm smaller version (I think the model number is almost the same, maybe 5130-2 or similar)---and that would be a perfect fit for an Icom 9700, too!

Despite the difficulty I had in figuring out the meticulous assembly required I would recommend this very well-engineered antenna wholeheartedly.

    73,

    Jeff

Sticking with the ICOM SHF theme, it would be great if ICOM, since they are already dabbling in SHF, duplicate transceivers such as Microtik and Ubiquiti. They would be flashable for the ARDEN Mesh and be used for point-to-point backbones. Make two trancievers that mount right into the dish. One for 3cm (10GHz) and one for 12mm (24Ghz) (Ham radio is the primary on this band!) Make the transmitters 1 watt and .5 watts respectively if possible. Each band has 50 MHz of bandwidth, much more room than the crowded 5cm (5.8GHz) band where we are secondary! Ahhhh, we can only dream!
