Yeah I agree. I wonder if the Air Force is going to rebuild Tyndall or just demolish it. Here's another video of a roof being blown off in Panama City Beach. They are still slowly rebuilding USMC Albany Logistics Base in Albany, Georgia after that Tornado came through. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=443527319387644 Mexico Beach: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=873567633033212
Painful to say, it looks like some warbattle went through the place. There have been a number of devastating cyclones/hurricanes but this one is total devastation. Thoughts to all those whom have lost literally everything. They are lucky to be alive.
Anyone around here able to verify these folks ok? Maria Kxxxxx is at that address with my sister, nephew, step dad, aunt, uncle 14439 Old Spikes Rd, Panama City, FL, 32409 (Bay County)
The Red Cross maintains a database of the names of all survivors and deceased reported to them by local search and rescue personnel. This is one area where amateur radio actually has a beneficial use. Hams can report in the names from the surrounding areas while other amateurs can volunteer to man the computer stations and input the data.
Well, here in Central NC they hyped up hurricane Florence for two weeks and nothing... a little rain, a little wind. No damage, no flooding, very few power outages in this part of the state (of course the coast was much worse). Hurricane Michael comes along with little local news hype, and no school closings before the storms - nothing. And we have trees down everywhere... widespread power outages (including at my QTH) and a lot still isn't back on yet here. Many roads are still closed due to downed trees, and flooding. Of course, being this far inland, it was nothing compared to what happened down around the panhandle. Prayers to everyone down there who got it infinitely worse then us
"Stormproof roofs only a few months old peeled like old paint and were scraped away by the gale." So much for 'stormproof'...
