I don't think so. In FCC regs, I think "pulled emissions are prohibited" would refer to those emissions with a type indicator of "P". CW is emission type A1A.
Channels 1, 2, 4, 5 are heavily used voice and CW channels determined throug my listening over the years. These remain 100 watt channels, there are even area nets (most of them being emergency training type) on those various channels throughout the week, I don't see those guys moving. Amateurs in this country need at least some guidelines from the ARRL and other groups
The net gain seems to be one band spread + four of the five current channels at their former power with the bandspread requiring calculations and considerations to match EIRP. There are emission limitations. And no matter what you're doing on 60M, you are secondary to the primary user, who is the US Federal Gov. This is overall, a gain for amateurs. You'll have to think before you play there, but you won't have to think much more than is normally required. 73 Tom W9YW
I have found 60 meters to be a pretty QRP friendly band since power is limited for everyone. I've made 350+ contacts on 60 with the vast majority of them using my little FT-818 rig. I've even made a contact to England on 60 meters, but I'm pretty sure that was using at least 20 watts.
Don't hold your breath. The software updates for the FTDX101 have been few and rare. Some are needed. For instance, what about a receive EQ like the FTDX10 has?
I'm enjoying the band, but have found activity to be sparse. My hunch is that when we first received the 60m allocation, there was probably a lot of excitement about it because it was new and there was consequent activity. But now it's become "old hat". Perhaps the new 15 KHz patch will trigger another uptick in activity as it receives attention once again. I made one 60 meter PoTA hunter contact on the band and was thrilled. I'm glad the PoTA initiatives spurred at least some to take an interest in the band.
I now have an excuse to MARS-mod my FT-991a. And then a stickie to remind me of the bandspread and new channels. I didn't play on 60M much at all, and my magloop doesn't go there. This means I have to hoist an EFHW again, darn it. Oh well, something else to do. 73 Tom W9YW
Just curious, when was the last time there was some sort of frequency or bandwidth change in the 10-80m bands? Not sure how often this happens, but I don't remember anything since I got licensed in '07
In 2006, the 80-meter band was changed. It used to be 3500 to 3750 kHz CW/data and 3750 to 4000 kHz phone/image. Now it's 3500 to 3600 kHz CW/data and 3600 to 4000 kHz phone/image.
Pulse modulation uses a much shorter duration pulse. At 20 wpm, a CW dit is 60 milliseconds. Typical pulse modulation is a 100 microsecond pulse with a 1 millisecond repetition rate.
