New Extras Receive Partial Welcome

Gary Stone writes "I (N5PHT) and my son (K5XZ) recently upgraded to Extra at the same
testing session. I have been a ham since 1986 and he for a year or so. Just about every QSO in which our new license comes up we hear from the others on the Extra portion something about the fact that we did not have to pass the 20 WPM!!


It gets old after awhile. Just above every time they make a comment about CW and the fact they had to pass 20 WPM. They need to wake up and smell the new rules... and enjoy ham radio!! I had to pass different elements through the years and if the truth be known so did most hams compared to other hams. The rules change from time to time. Lets all welcome the new Extras without the CW "you didn't have to do what I had to do.""
