The best offense is a good defense. Not only a ham, but a FlexRadio guy ! Godspeed to the Admiral. 73 Jim, WQ2H
Not true. With the advent of hypersonic missles, all surface ships are sitting ducks. The stealthy submarine is the only truly viable deterence we have. In WW2 it was the battleship that went obsolete in favor of the aircraft carriers. Today, the carriers are sitting ducks, and only the subs will survive a REAL battle. If anything, scrap the carriers.
DONT SCRAP ANYTHING!!! - remember WWII. To save money, everything was run down both sides of the pond then the war broke out and it was a race to get on a par with the enemy
A survivor of the patriot Rickover interview. That in itself is a lifetime achievement. Kickass Vice Adm Richards.
You might want to check again... A large portion of the U.S.'s Nuclear Arsenal is carried on Submarines. And, for obvious reasons. They are hidden most of the time and can pop up, fire a Nuclear missile, and submerge out of site again. Try a google search for 'Ohio Class Submarines'... Dan KI4AX
Opinions on the efficacy of submarines aside, I appreciate QRZ making us aware of the good Admiral. An ex Navy Nuke myself, it is great to see a fellow ham doing this important work. Bob W8BKM
Welcome aboard, Admiral Richard, and thank you for your service. Please disregard some of the ignorant and uninformed comments on this board ... it's hard to fix stupid! I hope to work you sometime ... probably not from your boat? 73, Dennis, WU6X
