I got a Yaesu FT-2900R for christmas. Whenever I run the radio at full power(75 watts) it shuts off and comes back on. Does anyone know why it does this and or help me? Thanks!

Do you have any idea what the SWR is between the radio and antenna? If there is too much of a mismatch the radio will shut off to protect itself.

Is the power supply large enough to handle the needs of the radio @ 75 watts?

You may have a power supply issue, as well, but I concur with FLL on this one.

Could also be a bad power connection. Check everything even the connection between the power line and the in line fuses.

my icom 7000 did this. it has a fuse in the positive and negative power cable when one of them blows it does this.

    I would suspect SWR...
check the manual in the "problems" section.
or,... ask a local ham. (via club, e-mail)............

If it stays on at "lower power" ... it's more than likely SWR (mis-match problems).....

Let us know if ya get it figured out.....

Could you please tell us more about the power supply that you're using and the antenna? Also, what kind of cable are you using between your radio and antenna?
