It didn't work for more than briefly in the first place....I distinctly recall all the flack I got for predicting its failure based on Newton's Cooling law. Nasty dissing against me. Basically an anti-science outcry. Not ham radio at its best. Made a better movie than a sat.
Oh Chip. Dissing? In HR? On QRZ? Of someone with expert insight? That frivolity aside, at least S#!t-Sat actually worked a while as just a hokey Russian publicity "science-fair" project, with an outcome according to your very reasonable prediction. More then can be said for AMSAT-NA, who sadly hasn't been able accomplish anything near the same lately, or worse, satifactorily explain why. A real disappointing melodramatic HORROR SHOW Glad to see other AMSAT international org's doing quite well though, and ARISS-USA, a class act, moving to gain some independence. 73, John, WØPV
Back in April of 2020 there was another great short film going around with a space/ham radio theme to it as well named "Voskhod". It is really amazing what amateur film makers are able to do now days that good equipment/CG effects, etc are more affordable and accessible.
SuitSat-1 circa 2006: I copied the girl's voice on one of the orbits from CM97.. The original xmtr output was expected to be two or three watts, but remained around 200mW for 6 weeks until battery depletion..
