Coming up on that time again....the annual N7GMH Granite Mountain Hotshots Memorial Special Event Station on June 30th for the 6th anniversary of their loss. THE GRANITE MOUNTAIN HOTSHOTS MEMORIAL RADIO CLUB WAS FORMED TO MEMORIALIZE AND SALUTE THE 19 GRANITE MOUNTAIN HOTSHOTS LOST ON JUNE 30, 2013 IN YARNELL, AZ AND TO RECOGNIZE WILDLAND FIREFIGHTERS AND FIRST RESPONDERS EVERYWHERE. OPERATIONS USING THIS CALL ARE HELD EACH JUNE 30, AS WELL AS OTHER SPORADIC TIMES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, WITH A SPECIAL CERTIFICATE AWARDED TO THOSE STATIONS REQUESTING THEM AFTER CONTACTS WITH US. JUNE 30 OPERATIONS ARE ON MULTIPLE HF BANDS, AND ARE ON FREQUENCIES ENDING IN .19 IF POSSIBLE. THIS TRAGIC EVENT WAS INCREDIBLY TRAUMATIC TO THE RESIDENTS OF PRESCOTT, INDEED ALL OF YAVAPAI COUNTY, AZ. THIS IS OUR WAY OF REMEMBERING THE YARNELL 19. Before becoming licensed as WY9A, I used to hold the callsign N7GMH. I'm glad the folks down in Prescott have resurrected the callsign and are using it for such an occasion. To all first responders, thank you.
