Wilbur Acker, N4HRT was one of the guys who worked in the Inverness, FL RadioShack around the time that I got my ticket. I was 13 years old, back in 1993 and he was always very nice to me and my Mother.. even as I came into their store week after week with pestering questions about their latest 2 meter HT, PL-259 connectors, or hecks knows what. :)

Wilbur passed away on March 21st, 2008. I hadn't been in contact with Wilbur for many years, nor do I know if he was particularly active in ham radio in his later years. Though I remember him as a heck of a nice guy and very instrumental furthering my interest in ham radio. When I read of his death on Easter Sunday via my home town's newspaper website, I was very saddened to see my friend had become a silent key.

Thank you Wilbur and rest in peace.

My condolences to his family and friends.
