This is a fun project for anyone who wants to make WSPR transmissions. I've enjoyed using the TAPR WSPR TX Shield over the past few weeks. Once I got the software WsprryPi working good I wanted to secure the hardware and have it run automatically. Silicon seems to work pretty good holding down the TX Shield and I found a package app to run the WsprryPi transmissions automatically. Maybe the best improvement on my RPi3 WSPR project is the newly attached 7" touchscreen. See the full article here.
Point of order: Shields are addition boards for Arduinos. That, Sir, is a hat on your Raspberry Pi. 73, Bob.
Bob, Since Tapr lists their product as Raspberry Pi QRP TX Shield for WSPR on 20 Meters you might want to correct them, Sir..... Rich, excellent and helpful information, Thanks Dennis W7IME
Gotycha, point taken, but you'd have to ask TAPR why they call it a Shield. ‘HAT’ (Hardware Attached on Top) seems reasonable to me Best 73!
Thanks Dennis. Lots of Hams are investigating the Raspberry Pi and what it can do. It's amazing. This has turned into a quest for DX. I think I'll take it camping next time and see what happens with the antenna up in a tree. Best 73!
Awesome! That looks great! Thanks for the picture and info. Do you have trouble with WIFI dropping on the RPi3 when transmitting?
