Seems to me that if they did that, they would be in violation of the law in regards to FCC type acceptance.
<span id='postcolor'>
i dont think so at all. its just how you look at it. what i ment to say is ,if they studied, and passed thier test then they would be in the 21st century.but your right if they were to get with the program at the level they are at now then ya, they would be in violation. [IMG]
<span id='postcolor'>
OK,
Thought you meant they should get on 11 meters with ham gear. My bad. Must admit, the best sounding rigs I've heard on Chicken Band were the old Yaesu 101's and Kenwood 430/450's. Clean audio and no splatter. Unfortunately, I have a neighbor, somewhere, that splatters from 24.050 mhz to 30.125 mhz.
Now, back to the original topic already in progress.

i have the same problem. but, it happens to be a friend of mine. he runs a cobra 1000 with a eagle 1000. it goes well over kW. I'm trying to get the old boy to go ham so he doesn't tear me up as bad. it sucks trying to listen to cw on 10 or 12 for that matter when all you here is buckshot all over the bands [IMG]

Hey -- if they can turn a record player into a musical instrument think what they can do with the old CW keys and paddles

RECOUNT:

The post above is #680 and this is #681. [IMG]

Here's an easy way to count posts:
Take the page number (69), multiply by 10 (690), and then subtract 10 (680). There are ten posts per page.

Oh, there's no doubt with me. I'm definately not a real ham and never will be. I for some reason thought you were one of those pro coder types. Impress me with some radio electronics speak.

well,sorry for saying that you were not a real ham. just got a little peeved when you stated {real ham?}.let me ask you this,its for fun.whats the dumbest thing you have ever done to a radio when modifying the rig for ultra performance? i will tell you what i did 5 years ago. i had bought a rci 2990 and a silver k eagle of ebay for around 4 hundred dollars in excellent condition. i hooked the rig up and noticed it was a little deaf and the noise blanker was indeed week as all get out. so i opened the rig up and pulled out my schematic and traced down the am detection circit and the NB/anl circuit and i cant really remember what value of diode i was using but any way i used solder wick to unsolder the diodes from the NB/anl and i had noticed that they were of higher value than the ones of the am detection circuit. so pulled the ones out of the am detection tossed them in the used parts ben had pulled the diodes out of the NB/anl and placed them there. i went out to buy two new diodes for the am detection circuit from electronic supply and came back home and installed them asap. well i was in such a hurry to get this thing tweaked up that i forgot i left the rig on the whole entire time. now i have done this mod to at least four other rigs with very excellent results,so this wasn't my first time doing this by no meens. i turned the radio over and went to transmit and on high there was a carrier of 500mw when there should have been 75 watts. every time you turned the power up or down the darn rig would drift frequency so bad it was unreal. i looked and looked and ran things down with a scope and still couldn't find anything wrong. i sent it in to rci and they sent it back to me and said it couldn't be fixed. still to this day the rig sits on my shelf haunting me from now till the end of my time [IMG]

Sounds like a story from old man copper or a page from secret CB or something?
Seems like you are one of these guys that can pass the 5 wpm test but haven't gotten around to taking it yet. Gotta watch that kind of thing. It has been the ruin of many.
I admit I sometimes shoot first then get the fine details later, anyway, I like the ducks.

You should be able to pass that test after reading all the questions over once. You only need a 72% score, I believe.
