Monument on MARCONI (Tower WW2GM) sited on New Jersey - USA Inscription. Marconi American Wireless Company Tower "WW2GM" 1913 - 1924 Presented here is only a small top portion of the original tower. There were a number of these towers in this area. They constituted the first commercial transatlantic communication installation. Erected 1976 by Wall Township, New Jersey. Location. 40° 11.389′ N, 74° 3.629′ W. Marker is near New Bedford, New Jersey, in Monmouth County. Marker is on Marconi Road 0.1 miles from Brighton Ave, on the left when traveling south. Bit late to the party - If you are in the area, continue on Marconi Road. On the right, is the InfoAge Science History Learning Center, on the grounds of the Belmar Marconi station. Plenty of Radio History there, including the Radio Technology Museum A bit further along on Marconi Road, is ISEC, the home of the 60' TLM-18 antenna system, used for Radio Astronomy and EME.
Not well known but the W1AW ARRL station is built at the exact site where the child Hiram Percy Maxim took his first outdoor whiz. The AW in W1AW stands for "All Wet". Just sayin....
