    Here is another vote for 17m. Being mobile I've had success from 40-10m, but 17 seems to be mobile magic for me. 40 is nice, but a stretch for some small antenna's. I have quite a bit of info on my mobile stuff in the mobile section of my blog if you want to check it out.

    I don't know if it would interest you or not, but there is the MMSN (14.300). The Mobile Maritime Service Net (www.mmsn.org). When I can't get anything on other bands, I monitor it and check in often. Quite an interesting Net.
