On May 6th, 2001 we will hold the first ever Ham Radio Special Event Station. We are hoping to try and bring attention to the over 2300 children who are reported missing each day.

This event is sponsored by AMECO, Association of Missing and Exploited Childrens Organizations, in partnership with The Molly Bish "Life Guards" Center, the family of Debbie Melo of Taunton, Tantasqua Jr. High School Ham Radio Station, St. Stan's Polish Club of West Warren, MA, and numerous volunteers.

The event is still in it's planning stages so we may be adding activities but here are the basics:

Date and Time: May 6th, 12 noon to 6 pm.

Actual Location: St. Stan's Pavilion, W. Warren, MA

Ham Radio Location: General Portion of the 20 Meter Band

    Call Sign: KB1BKK

Activities: We will have ham radio operators contacting others throughout the world. We will also have posters of all the missing children and adults from Massachusetts who are registered as missing with NCMEC and/or NMCO.

We are looking for sponsors to help pay for the costs of the event. All donations collected after expenses will be distributed to the above named sponsors that work to recover missing individuals. All donations can be sent to AMECO, 167 Washington ST., Norwell, MA 02061.

We are also looking for additional radio operators and remote stations so that we can increase the number of frequencies for this event. If you are an operator and would like to volunteer, please use the e-mail link below to contact me.

Other Ham Radio Events being done in conjunction with this Special Event Station: Boothill Amateur Radio Club will be broadcasting from 11a.m. May 5th to 6pm May 6th on the following frequencies- 7.260 and 39.45. This station is based in Kansas. Call sign is W0PMW.
