I also sent Mike several bucks via PAYPAL.. I am very happy with the ease of obtaining my vanity call sign. I waited 25 years, and as KA9DZM for all that time, I passed my Extra and wanted the callsign and got it with no problems at all..
I had absolutly NO experience and did not know where to ever start. I got all the info, the forms and kept abreast of how things were going. I found I had a 99% prediction for a successful granting of the call and they estimated on June 11....I came home from work all night at the police dept and checked the FCC database at 7:30am on June 11 and there it was!
What more could you ask for!.
I am not paying money for me, I am paying for that site to be up and available FOR THE NEXT GUY or GAL that really wants the callsign they choose!
Thanks Mike and thanks to all that posted here with sense...
    PS
I did not sent a cent to the crybaby wanting a new amplifier!

I want to own a HF amp, but no one sends me any money. and I sometimes particapate in NTS Nets, and other public service stuff and no one sends me any money.

It's amazing, A guy runs a site and screams "I need money" and everyone comes running with thier checkbooks. I bet if the truth was known... That site does that on a regular basis to raise extra money for the site.

    Food for thought...

K8CPA is a 30 year old that still lives with his parents. I also know he couldn't hold a $7 an hour job in a body shop.

His lack of experience in the real world invalidates his comments.[/QUOTE]<span id='postcolor'>
Typical response from some S.O.B., who ain't got the BALLS to post with his REAL name and call...

To my knowledge though, this guy has yet to ask for donations, he merely stated his plight and others have rushed to offer assistance ,(he has established paypal to make it easier to give), its up to the individual to believe him or not .
Given my little knowledge of the web game I am certain that to keep it viable does require a goodly bit of time .  In any event at this point the site is their to assist all hams who wish to venture forth and it is free, for now.

Everytime I have renewed my license, I've done it on the FCC's website. ANYONE who PAYS anyone to renew thier license for them, is an idiot.

I'll add my contribution! Thanks to the site I was able to easily find three calls (for myself & [used-to-be] club).

As to the gripers... They obviously overdosed on their daily Viagra [IMG].

CSS just bought banner ads at vanity HQ to help Michael offset his expenses. It's a valuable sight, and those others that are in the ham business, like me, should be able to see the value of the service he does, and the visibility of his site.

There are many ham companies that don't believe banner ads work. My numbers show 50% of the sales I do come from the Internet, 40% from QST and 10% from everything else.

If it wasn't for Mike's website, I wouldn't have been able to acquire my vanity call. Mike, keep up the great work and watch your mailbox for my contribution, so that you can continue this great work.

K8CPA - As you can see, 99.9% of these posts have been in favor of this topic, but of course as the old saying goes,
"There's always one." YOU must be a very self-centered individual....unfortunate. At any rate, you have exercised your right as stated in the U.S. Constitution to state your opinion. Now I state my opinion to you: If you don't like what you see in these posts, just ignore it and go crawl back into your closet. YOU "have a day".

Hopefully I won't throw irons in the fire...but look at my call. Granted, that I am very proud to have it (even though it is a newbie license...but I have to wait for October to take my cw/general)Do you know how hard it is for people to understand ULU? Yeesh...I think when I get my General I will be going for a new call.

It's not manditory to send him a donation as you make it out to be. It's also not manditory to be an ARRL / W5YI / etc member. You don't have to participate in anything if you don't want to. If you don't want to help him, then don't.

as far as you and your HF amp... ask and see if someone will help you with it... maybe someone has a pointer to a good deal on one that you wouldn't have found elsewhere. You could even homebrew one for cheaper than you can probably buy one for. If you actually asked for help instead of just shooting your mouth off maybe someone would actually help you.

His site provites a resource to let you know what calls are available and how to fill out the vanity app. It also has a call sign predictor that can also be very helpful. He charges nothing for all of this. It's much harder to do this on your own, rather than to go to his site and just look.

I don't have a vanity call, but I realize how much of a daunting task it can be for people who want a vanity call to actually find one that is available.

I also have been unemployed for over a year and know EXACTLY where he is coming from. web hosting / maintanence is not cheap. Look for yourself sometime and see how much it would cost to host a very popular site with its own domain name and email and you'll see exactly how much it costs to host something. The fact that he has been continuing to run the site, without even asking for a donation until now is testament to his devotion to the hobby.

Just dropped in with a donation for Mike. I figure its the least I can do considering his site was such a big help to me. I notified some of my buddies who used it as well in hopes they'll donate.
