For the last 10 years or so some smartphones have had the ability to output video through the micro usb port. You could use a MHL adapter to connect an HDMI screen up to the phone and have a bigger screen.

My RS-928+ has a micro usb port and I was wondering if a firmware update would let you out put a signal over MHL and use an adapter to have a bigger screen for my radio.

I have no experience with the rig, but looking at the photos online, I'm betting no. MHL is a specific standard that requires a fairly advanced processor behind it, thus being found in a certain era of smartphones. This USB port is probably just a USB device port for the CAT and/or firmware upgrade functions of the less sophisticated processor in the radio.
