I have an MFJ 929 auto tuner. For me it’s a great tuner. I only use it for portable with the FT 897D at times. I needed an extra watt meter to make some tests. I did not want to keep taking my primary station watt meters out of service and then realized the MFJ 929 shows wattage on the display. The problem is, mine is actually reading 10% high at all power levels.

    Simple fix:
There are two trip pots in this unit. VR1 and VR2 located on the main board in the back of the unit. I have an LP 100A so I have an accurate meter to start with.
VR1 is for forward power and VR2 is for reflected power.

Now when the radio puts out 5 watts the 929 displays 5 watts, same goes for all of the other power levels.

The schematic is downloadable from MFJ’s web site, if needed.
