    I wanted to see how well the MFJ-917 lab balun performed so I hooked one up to my HP8753D vector network analyzer. I am pleased with what I found. This is a sweep from 1MHz to 60MHz with markers at 1.8MHz, 29.7MHz, and 54MHz.
    The second photo shows the Return Loss in dB and impedances.

    Looks like return loss is pretty good. But, with a VNA, why not show how much attenuation the balun provides? Not inline losses but how much attenuation it provides from keeping the RF from coming back down the transmission line.

    Give it a 3:1 mismatch and hit it with 1500 watts for three minutes. Let us know how it goes.
