I just wanted to alert any owners of the MFJ 844 UHF/VHF wattmeter and SWR meter that you might be wise to check to see if the SWR function actually works. I've gotten three units that were fresh out of the box that didn't work in SWR mode. I became a little doubtful when the meter told me I had <1.2:1 SWR over the entire UHF band no matter what antenna I used. Actually, no matter what frequency, or power, or load I used I couldn't get the meter to read more than 1.2:1 even with a calibrated 25 ohm test load.

I've contacted MFJ about this problem and they don't seem to be concerned enough to get back with me.

If someone has this meter, test it! If it works, or doesn't work I'd appreciate knowing. The power meter part appears to work well on both meters.
