here is the cobb county police press release:

Fatality Crash Investigation (11/10/10 @ 1645 hours in Zone 4) The Cobb County Police Departments S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a traffic fatality crash, which occurred on southbound Johnson Ferry Road, just north of Willows Way in Marietta, Georgia.

According to investigators, the driver of a white 1998 Honda Gold Wing motorcycle was riding in the slow lane of southbound Johnson Ferry Road (just north of Willows Way) when according to witnesses, the driver of a gray or black Ford F-150 (late model extended cab) truck may have cut in front of the motorcycle and behind a second uninvolved vehicle (directly in front of it), when changing from the fast to the slower lane. To avoid the collision, investigators believe the motorcyclist was forced up and over the curb and across the sidewalk. The motorcyclist then struck a brick pillar which connected wood fencing paralleling the sidewalk.

The driver of the motorcycle, identified as 60 year old Mark Conroy of Marietta, Georgia was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, but died as a result of his injuries he sustained in the crash.

Investigators are seeking information from any motorist who was in the area or witnessed the crash to contact them at (770) 499-3987.

Mark was such a great guy. The very first time I rode my motorcycle in a group outing was with Mark and the Patriot Guard. He loved riding his Goldwing.
I enjoyed having lunch with Mark at the North Fulton Amateur Radio League (NFARL) weekly lunch get together. He was always smiling.

Mark, you will be sorely missed.
