    How to remove the main dial knob of ICOM IC 725. there is a hole. (I ve to use Allen Key [​IMG])

    Is this an older radio? Shaft encoders often fail if the light source burns out as in the case of old incandescent types. Newer radios use LEDs or IR LEDs making it less likely for this source to fail. Also I have seen one encoder fail to operate due to dust getting in the way of the light source.
    I've seen cases where the radio will only tune in one direction due to the failure of only one of the two light sources. (there are two separate pulse generators that are phase shifted). Sorry that I don't know of a replace encoder. Does the one in this radio run on +5V only? 73
