I'm guessing this may be a configuration or computer error on my end, but when I go to the TQSL program to upload new QSOs for LoTW, I get frequent notifications that 'a new version is available'.

When I first had the program, several years ago, I'd tell it to update, and it would. Seemed everything is fine. But in the last year or more I get some computer mumbojumbo.

I'm using Windows7 and I get a popup after I tell it to 'update' the program, and it cames from Windows Installer. From the 'about' screen I get this is TQSL V2.5 and Config data 11.9, if that helps.

What does this mean, and how do I correct it? Is it a command-line thing?

I had a similar problem trying to update via the link provided in TQSL.
Contacted ARRL and, as KJ4VTH posted, they advised downloading the updated version directly:
    http://www.arrl.org/tqsl-download
    And that worked.

Did you have any trouble importing the station certificates (or whatever that hard to install thing was)?

You don't "import" anything, you just install the update. it will retain all needed data.

I have updated the program when a new version is available, as long as your current cert is valid, there is no issue.

In fact, once I even received a notice that my cert was expiring soon, and I should renew it, which I did with no problems.
