I use Spybot Search & Destroy as well as Adaware...

The combination seems to work pretty well... and they're freeware.

Another vote for Spybot Search & Destroy and Adaware. Use both.

I'll agree on spybot and adaware i use both of them and they are good programs.I additionally use a-squared anti malware. It seems to find certain malware traces that spybot and adaware fail to detect on your computer you can try them out for free as well [IMG]

You can also try BHOdemon. This is a program which lets you turn on/off various BHO's - "Browser Helper Objects" - being used by your browser. If you have a recent version of MSIE, you can also accomplish the same thing under "Tools | Manage Add-ons."

IF you have a legit version of XP, Windows Defender (from MS) also gets good reviews believe it or not.

Stay Away from PC Tools unless you want your Registry destroyed.
