I'll soon be installing a new radio and antenna in my vehicle. I'd like to have a meter that I can keep inline. It doesn't have to be super high precision, just good enough to have an idea of what's going on. I welcome recommendations. If possible, I'd like to stay below $60.

    The MFJ-812B would work.
Cheap for a VHF SWR meter.
Have heard some of the simple SWR meters sold at 11 meter shops do work as a general indicator for 2 meters.
They are not accurate though just a rough measurement but do show when the SWR is minimum but outside that low point the readings are way off.

    Hope this helps

Why? By the time an SWR or watt meter told you anything about the performance of your two meter transceiver, you'd already know something was amiss.
