I am not unhappy with the small Gunson meter I have had for a number years but it does not go down to the milliamp range and I have reason to doubt it's accuracy. So I search for something new.
A Tacklike BN06 arrived from Amazon today; it's going straight back. They missed the "y" out of the product name.
My budget is around $40-50 (ie £30-ish) The Proster VC99 gets good reviews but before I click "buy" I thought I'd do a bit more research on here.
    What do you use?
    and do you recommend it?

I have the UNI-T UT61E. I bought it 4 years ago. I recently upgraded the probes for it with an inexpensive kit sold under the Extech name.

Search on "UNI-T UT61E review eevblog" I bought mine on a tear-down review by Dave, whose main criticism was the lack of support of the banana jacks.

The UNI-T UT61E isn't a bad meter for the price. I have one and find it great.

    Hi Ted
Only just seen your reply - thankyou. For some reason my new message alerts stopped coming through.
I have ended up with a Proster VC99 which on the face of it, is not a a great deal different to the UT61E and seems to tick all the boxes.
