Following its wildly-successful on-line cw classes for school-agers, the Long Island CW Club (LICWC) has launched a Morse code remote learning environment specifically for YL’s.

“With 75 youngsters taking advantage of our instructional sessions specifically for elementary, middle and high school-aged learners, it was the next logical step to accommodate the more than 30 YL’s who’ve joined our club, along with other women who want to master cw, ” said LICW Club co-founder Howard Bernstein, WB2UZE.

“Our aim,” Bernstein explained, “Is to provide a more encouraging atmosphere for YL students who might find it intimidating to be in a class with a small proportion of women.”

The weekly YL instruction, Saturdays at 9:00 p.m. EDT (01:00Z), is conducted in a casual, friendly style led by YL’s Leanne Bulger, W4LEA in North Carolina and Jennifer Moore, KF4INA in Alabama.

“Our intention,” said Bernstein, “Is to reach out to all YL’s nationally and internationally and welcome them to join our club to do our part in getting more women involved in Amateur Radio, and specifically cw, to sustain the future of our hobby.”
