I am puzzled by the variety of logging softwares
available, freeware or not; I don't wish to hook it
to my rig, mast, antenna, TV , GPS or whatever... all
I need is a good database of awards, the ability to
go back and forth over the logged QSOs and to import
the database to all sorts of strange codes and formats,
to meet the demands of contest managers.

So I'd be happy to hear your recommendations, pros & cons, experience etc.

I fit your category and I use N3FJP. It cheap and good. They give you good service.

Defenitly N3FJP. His general purpose contact log cost $20 to register. He has programs for all of the major contest which run about $6 apiece to register. Or you can register all of them for about $50.Check them out.
