It makes the lightning travel backwards
I use a Beofeng and 300 feet of wire in the tallest tree.
I use the weather channel app and my ears, judging how loud the thunder is the radio goes off and every cable removed.... in march or april of this year we had a thunderstorm come in and I shut down and unplugged when the weather app said the strike was 5 miles away....10 min later BOOM! for a split second I saw a bright orange flash, I just knew my wire antenna was hit...nope, Im guessing a tree or power line was hit next to my house ....I always check the forecast and if there is a slight chance of lightening everything gets unplugged
Not sure it's what you are looking for, but check "FAR Circuits," and "miscellaneous" projects; there's a reference there that might be appropriate. (Also check QST APRIL 2002.; it may be the same article.)
I've used this product for about 5 or 6 years & find it to be very accurate. It allows you to see the the lightning storm approaching AND receding. It's quite a little gadget !
I use an old pocket AM radio.
As in "duolc ot doulc? Or "duolc ot dnuorg?"
