Has anyone used the Lido CD Player mount? Is it stable? Is there risk of damage to the player itself?

I'm looking to set up an HT-based station I can easily move between vehicles (one doesn't have room for a standard mobile, the other is my wife's daily driver, so no permanent radios). An HT with an external mag-mount antenna (prob 1/4 wave) and a mic will suit my needs just fine, but I want the radio mounted solidly while under way.

I've also looked at their cup-holder mount, but I like how the CD mount will put the radio closer to eye level.

    Thoughts?

Looking at the mount, I don't think it would get anywhere near the laser lens. No matter how the laser lens is oriented, CD are read form the inside out (the opposite of vinyl); so its resting place should be in the center.

I've thought about one of these myself. I wasn't took concerned about it as I have never used the CD player to play CDs in the entire time I've owned the car. The mount could damage it, and I would never know.
