May 23, 2020 marked the first YL only Morse Code(CW) class for Long Island's CW Club(LICW). The weekly class is hosted by Jennifer Moore KF4INA and Leanne Bulger W4LEA. Like all it's classes, instruction is done in a casual, friendly style and is hosted in virtual classrooms(Zoom). LICW Club membership has grown to include 28 YL's and will be called YL4CW. The purpose of this group is to cultivate friendships, mentor relationships and build confidence while making CW fun to learn. Howard Bernstein WB2UZE and Rich Collins K2UPS felt it was the next logical step to take. Any woman thinking of becoming involved in amateur radio and CW should consider this program.
Earlier this Spring, the club began also offering classes to K-12 youth isolated at home by the Covid-19 pandemic. To date, 75 youth worldwide have taken advantage of the program and 7 classes are being taught each week.
The Long Island CW Club was established in January 2018 and has quickly grown to 528 members in the US and 14 foreign countries and now offers 31 classes weekly. Since that time, it has made it's classrooms available to those hams and non-hams, anywhere in the world, desiring to learn or improve their Morse Code.
