    I'm continuing my mini-hexbeam project right now and am hoping for final assembly and tuning next week after my travel this (long) weekend trip. Also probably should build and trim a new 1/4l vertical with three elevated radials using my newer material collection than I had last year. Looking forward to the fun and whatever ionospheric instabilities we get!

    I will be on with my Radio Shack HTX-100 transceiver, newly installed in the shack, and embark on a very fun effort: Nostalgic W.A.S. on this rig!!! I'll be QRO ... running it at the full 25 watts instead of 5 but will still have a blast.

    Tried it recently on CW and it's pretty miserable - I don't recommend CW on an HTX-100 except for beacon use. They really suck at CW in normal use

    But for SSB, they are a WONDERFUL little radio - and I will be on trying to rack up as many states as I possibly can!!!

    I really love these old "Nostalgic radio self-imposed goals" like this - it really keeps the hobby fun and interesting.... the only time working California "for the first time" is a HOOT!! :D:D

    Antenna will be the SteppIR DB18E at 65'

    That's quite the pairing! Please do not expect my 5W to be getting out from quite that high this year (I'll be portable again, though a different park), even with potential directionality.

    VERY possibly the first time in Amateur Radio History that a Radio Shack HTX-100 will be paired with a SteppIR DB18E :eek::eek::D

    I’m a Tech KI5QCX been away for little over a year after all my gear was destroyed by a ex ok lady.
