Thanks to member Jim Biram K6JKB for a nice trip report sent to QST magazine. May 2018 Issue QST Article name is: Land Ops - Off Road and On the Air This was a nice write up (trip report) on our Monache Meadows, California trip last year. We did a little mesh networking with our own version of a talking stick. We've gotten better getting everything functional. We had a fully functioning network with VOIP phones during this years Quartzfest. Thanks to Russ Chung KI6MLU. Here's a little fun video of this particular trip (QST article) to Monache Meadows with some of our challenges with mesh network last year.
Member here too... It is a lot of fun. I'm also a member of the local off road club, but Land Ops is just more fun... off roading and radio communications all in one.
It's a lot of fun. I've been doing it since 2009. We have some special projects coming up on video that involve some research. Some of our members got to participate in the meteorite research project for our upcoming documentary. Keep an eye out for "mysteries of Lucky Nugget" being release in May.
