I have been given one of these amps in good working condition. It has minor cosmetic faults (missing a lamp indicator colored lens.)
Label says it is for 6 and 10 meters.

It was previously used as a CB amp. (yeah, it was a "bit" over the CB limit)

Is this a viable unit to use and does anyone know of any issues, "watch outs", etc.
Seeing that I'm setting up my first "shack", I want to start out with the "best foot forward" as possible.
This would be fed by a ICOM 756 Pro III up to 100w.

THANKS in advance for your responses and advice!
HAPPY NEW YEAR and a GREAT 2019 to ALL!

It's a CB junk amp. The best place for it is in the garbage.

Don’t attempt to use that on the ham bands. 10 meters is dead anyhow and it wouldn’t work on any other bands without major work. Give it back and find yourself a good used Heathkit sb-200 or Ameritron Al-811. They come up for sale on here often and are relatively inexpensive compared to most modern Hf gear.

That thing is useful only as a paperweight, and its not too good at that either!

Do all of us a favor and find the nearest dumpster to house it...

More than a "bit" over it's a violation of the FCC rules and regs to use on 11 meters. Previous posts provide good advise.

Exactly how would 3 6lq6 tubes with a pi output network be any worse than any other amp?

    Agreed junk, but...

You can't drive that with more than a couple watts, don't try 100W in.

The 'benefit' of using the 'few hundred' watts you might get out of it is nil anyway.

If you want an amp, get a real amp, not one from the island of misfit toys.

'nuff said.. 'kinda what I figured.
Just thought I'd ask really knowledgeable people.
(hmmm..I wonder what scrap metal rates are these days.. it weighs enough..)

Are the tubes or any other internal components of any value?

THANKS AGAIN for your responses and advice!

Thanks for nipping this thread in the bud. A true Zed pileup could go on for days. :p

Good on ya for getting back into radio, and check back with ideas to explore. Welcome aboard!

before you send it in the dumpster, remove the tubes and sell them to some other CBer who needs the same tubes. If the tubes are 90-100% you'll get close to $50 each for them from those maul dropper types.
