Hey, that's always a plus!
Even for us licensed folks.
Some people memorize the eye exam, is that ok too?
Not if he's the pilot of the aircraft I'm riding in. Or the pilot steering a collision course with us. (Saw just that on an old episode of JAG.)
A gifted teacher once said, "If you only teach it one way, you're teaching it wrong. At least for some of your students."
WELL SAID !
Please let's not underestimate the skills and abilities of the younger crowd...
They aint dumb...
MOST IMPORTANT THING TO TEACH THEM IS Y-O-U !
Your personality impacts kids - period.
If you will do that, be your real self and a ham, no one perfect, and they will want to be like you.
So just be Chris D. Trouten first and foremost. The rest will follow.
You are the only one of you that God ever made! Think on that for a few minutes my friend.
You WILL make a difference in their lives.
Be Chris and do as your conscience leads...
You can't go wrong being transparent and a friend to the kid(s)...
God speed es 73.
There is a problem with making things too easy, it usually defeats it's self.
My 12 year old son is studding for his tech. He has the ARRL book and KB6NU's study guide, but he struggles with reading stuff like that. Are there any YouTube videos that teach the tech license? He's got 2 weeks off due to school shutdown, so it would be a good time to watch a few videos. He does better with multi media stuff.
What would you recommend?
Thanks for your help.
Offer him 10-20 dollars if he passes but then also have him know that he will get 50 dollars if he gets 50 or more points in the ARRL VHF contest in June( or maybe a dollar for every point but limited to 50 dollars). That way he will have the incentive to be on the air so as to gain experience before the contest, so that he can make the money. Hopefully he will have found that he enjoys ham radio and therefore wants to be on the air and eventually upgrade. Now it may not be possible for him to get licensed right now because of the pandemic so you might want to make it Jan ARRL instead of June.
