If your ts600 or ts 700 has an unstable vfo it is likely q1 is bad, this is not a dual gate fet as gate 2 has no voltage on it, to sub a dual gate fet the 1meg res from g2 to ground should be replaced with a 10k res. Then place a 13 k res (on the bottom of the board) from the drain pad to the g2 p2d. I used a 3n187 fet I had on hand but other dual gate fets may work as well. It is not necessary to remove the vfo to change this fet just remove the 4 top flat head screws from the side of the front panel and the screw on top of the vfo, the the nut on the back of the vfo, and the the screw on the bottom of the vfo, it can be loosened with a pair of long nosed plyers. To replace this screw wrap a turn of solder to hold it an use a small jewelers screwdriver. The cover can be removed and the printed circuit worked on Donald k4qkr
