I just looked to see what my Yaesu 2980 would be today. While HRO has it listed for $150, gigaparts has it listed for $200. Ouch.
Well -- on the "upside" I guess now would be the time to sell one of these on the used market. Since the used radio market seems to be (between .85 and .9) x [current list price] folk that bought these prior to 2021 could make a few bucks. HIHI.
I just saw the 65 watt Yaesu FTM-3100R on Giga Parts for a hundred and fifty bucks. The Icom IC-2300H is a hundred and eighty dollars after rebate. They are all pretty much the same, even though I prefer Yaesu VHF and UHF radios, I would get any of the two meter only ones. I'm building a ham radio death star. When I finally pull the trigger, the Funeral Committee will be ANHILLIATED, DECIMATED and OBLITERATED.
If it isn't it should be. I have one and it works well for APRS, but for general use I think the UI is very very old.
I had a Friend contact Kenwood. statement was "the D710GA is not discontinued, at least not yet at this time"
