I am considering the acquisition of a 922 for a price around $ 200.00 cash and carry. This one needs a new band switch, which I know is not I would be looking at appx $ 400.00 in upgrades between the new switch and new Harbach P/S upgrades. Minimum of $ 600 before I turn on the switch.

I know this has been considered a great amp, but would like to solicit current opinions.

FYI: i already run an Ameritron 811H on 80 40 20 SSB and wonder if the price of that additional S UNIT is worth the cost.

    For $200 it’s a no brainer

    $200 is a great deal.

It's not "an S-unit" difference, though, if we define an S-unit as 6 dB. It's about half an S-unit (3 dB...difference between about 600W and about 1200W).

I guess the old saying holds true "It's the FIRST 600 watts that makes the difference."

    RUN to that DEAL!!!
Only wish I could find such a deal. I have a Drake L7 now, but need a BACK UP KW in case the L7 burns up!
