    Kenneth H. Smith, 73, of Lawrence Street died Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at Albany Medical Center.
    Born in Rhinebeck, he was the son of the late Kenneth M. and Betty May Meisner Smith.
    He was a graduate of Arlington High School in Lagrangeville.
    Ken had been employed for over 34 years by the New York State Department of Transportation and had been stationed in Waterford for most of his career, moving to the main office in Albany a few years before his retirement.
    Prior to the N.Y.S. D.O.T., he worked for Mack Trucks in Poughquag.
    Ken was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force Strategic Air Command and had served in Vietnam.

    He was a member and past P.E.R. of the Cohoes-Waterford Lodge of Elks, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 5800, the American Legion Post 1520 in Albany, the Veterans of Lansingburgh, the Early Engine Club in Troy and the Troy Amateur Radio Association where his Ham Radio # was WA2TQK.

    He was a communicant of Grace Episcopal Church in Waterford.

    He is the father of Jennifer L. Ferrara (David) of Waterford and Debbie DeCelle (Heath) of Cohoes and brother of the late Kevin Smith.
    He is the proud grandfather of Tim and Matthew DeCelle and Evelyn Ferrara.

    Funeral services will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., Waterford.

    Interment with military honors will be at 1 p.m. in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
    Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m.

    Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Waterford Memorial Post 5800 VFW, 93-95 3rd St., Waterford, NY 12188 or the Cohoes-Waterford Lodge of Elks, 45 N. Mohawk St., Cohoes, NY 12047.

    Ken was a Friend, and will be missed by all who knew him.

    Here is a photo of the both of us at a local Hamfest a few years ago, Ken was promoting the TARA Club Raffle, the next year Ken dressed up in an "Uncle Sam" outfit to help promote the Troy Amateur Radio Association raffle. :)
