Gary Lee Carson passed from this life August 10, 2009, after a yearlong struggle with paralysis caused by transverse myelitis. This was a testament to this "gentle giant's" strength, hope and courage. Born in Edmond, he spent most of his life there. He attended Central State College and was side tracked into a career with the Edmond Police Department where he attained the rank of Lieutenant. Later he changed careers to become an outstanding auto technician. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Nichols Carson and his father, Mitchell Lee Carson, and twin daughters, Deborah Lee and Denise Lynn Carson. His wife, Melinda Burchett, two daughters, Jennifer Carson and Julie Ezell, brother, Mark Carson and his wife Vickie plus three grandsons survive him. Gary had a passion for ham radio and fixing up his old house. He was known by his friends and family as someone who could fix anything. His wife Melinda remembers him as her hero and best friend. The family would also like to thank Kindred Hospital for their tender care of Gary. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 13, 2009, at First Christian Church of Edmond.
