Thats what happens when the younger generation takes a believed entitlement to the extreme and does nothing to mitigate her own problems in order to be more accepted by the enemy...the male gender.

Im sure the self serving videos will only continue.

Having worked with highly trained technical women from my USN days to the electronics industry retirement Im glad Im glad I had very very few immature snits to be involved with.

I haven't done SSTV but if I could, I'd send pics of my latest techie achievements to show off. I do have pictures of pretty ladies, some of my ballroom dance showcase photos!

Getting back on topic, I haven't seen the vid or her QRZ page, maybe she's the next Jeri Ellsworth (not a ham but has very educational youtube videos on various electronics and gadgets).

She has some valid points. If you watch her reaction to comments video. Yes, the instances she describes do fit into that second definition of sexism. However, I feel like the things she was describing were not intentional and certainly seemed benign. Everyone makes assumptions about people they don't know, we wouldn't be able to interact efficiently with other people if we didn't. If you saw an overweight, older heterosexual man at a make-up convention, we'd all probably guess he was there with his wife, we're making an educated guess based on the normal demographic of people like attend make-up conventions. It's when sexist behaviors hurt or change the affected party's behavior is when there is an actual problem that needs to be discussed. Of course there are a*holes everywhere but in my personal experience as a YL I have only ever been treated with respect and enthusiasm for contributing to the diversity of the hobby. I'm even the VP of my local club.

I've actually heard of some female hams who preferred working CW because they did not appreciate all the attention a female voice received on the air.
If you think about it it sounds kind of creepy!
I think a point could be made that all the attention is not necessarily appreciated.

The problem with trying to prove there is no sexism in any endeavor, is that in the process, you'd reveal there is sexism.
That's simply a matter of perception of the evidence being presented. The reason for that is, sex is a normal and everyday part of our lives.
It doesn't go away by being in some magic pastime (like amateur radio). The idea though, is to have proper control of our senses and sensibilities.
It's something that separates human from animal responses. Humans are in, at least some manner, control of the impulses. Occasionally a little bit sneaks out.
Given the chance of that, it becomes more obvious because it is not as common as it would be without those controls.
Advertisers use these "slip-ups" as a way to sell their products. It's all around you, me and everybody else (there are, as expected, some exceptions).
We usually make light of those "slip-ups" and either learn to further suppress our impulses, or simply accept them as part of life. It depends on the circumstances and often the individuals involved.
You'd be hard pressed to find a totally neutral sexist environment anywhere. You've already proven that by your observations. It can actually be a form of amusement, if properly applied to the circumstances, or you could take the opposite approach and consider everybody as a bunch of jerks. Me, I prefer to be amused. We are, indeed, very strange critters.

    Have fun
