    April 9, 1949 ~ May 21, 2016 (age 67)
    Berlin, Ohio
    David Lee Christner, age 67, of Millersburg, Ohio passed away Saturday, May 21st, 2016 at Majora Lane Care Center, Millersburg, Ohio after several years of declining Health due to ALS.

    Dave remained strong in his commitment to Christ to the end of his life.
    Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Gateway Fellowship, 1287 Massillon Road, Millersburg.
    A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow at 7p.m. at the church with Pastor Larry Hasemeyer officiating. Burial will take place in Fryburg Cemetery at a later date.


    Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio. Those wishing to share a memory or make online condolences may do so by visiting www.alexanderfhinc.com.
    Memorials may be made to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Road, Wooster, Ohio 44691 or to the ALS Association Northern Ohio Chapter, 6155 Rockside Road, Suite 403, Independence, Ohio 44131, designated for equipment.

    Dave was born in Millersburg, Ohio to the late George and Nettie (Swartzentruber) Christner on April 9th, 1949 and lived in Holmes County all of his life.
    He graduated from Hiland High School in 1968, United Electronics Institute in 1970 and the College for Financial Planning in 1995.
    On May 2nd, 1970 he married Carol Gerber and she survives.

    Dave was a member of Gateway Fellowship in Millersburg. He enjoyed telling jokes and to make people laugh.
    When he could no longer speak, David used a computerized communication device to talk and he shared many scriptures, trivia and jokes with family and friends who visited him.
    He enjoyed the fact that his communication device would speak Pennsylvania Dutch, a language he was fluent in.
    Dave was an Electrical Safety Inspector for a number of years and was also certified to teach continuing education classes for the National Electric Code, which he greatly enjoyed.

    In addition to his wife, Carol, Dave is survived by siblings, Paul (Jen) Christner, Darlene (Bud) Wade, Dorothy (Bob Miller) Christner, Morris (Sally) Christner and Daryl (Mary Beth) Christner; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mary Yoder, Paul (Judy) Gerber, Donna (Alvin) Weaver, Darryl Gerber, Janet (Les) Shoup and Wanda (Nick) Mullet; and many nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

    The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to LifeCare Hospice for the loving care given to Dave for the last several years of his life,
    and to the ALS foundation for all the equipment they provided to aid with his care.
